Who would have thought that a gay hockey p*rno would have two straight young adults bawling their eyes out? If you didn’t have the same reaction as us, we don’t trust you. What started as a joke on a random weekday night turned into an obsession that left us wanting more.
This show is the perfect combination of sex, humor, and romance. It quickly infiltrated not only our every thought but also our TikTok For You pages. The videos range from interviews where the actors are both polar opposites of their characters, to making it seem like it is actually just a rivalry hockey show, and trying to sneak a few too many spicy moments onto a censored platform. But don’t worry, we’re going to link a few of our faves just for you. Hopefully, by the end of this post, you’re either a converted fan or we just resurfaced your unhealthy obsession.
To be totally upfront and honest… we have not read the books (we’re not big readers), so I’m sure we don’t know the entire depth of the story, but we’ve seen enough to know that we love it. Like in episode 3, when we got a break from all the hook-up culture, and saw a budding romance between the smoothie guy and the HOT hockey captain. But let’s face it, they’re not the main stars of this show, and they’re certainly not our favorite scenes. Which, if we had to rank them, would go…
HM- the “I love you” cottage bed scene, where they both finally admit they only want each other and make plans for a future together (HM itself could just be the entire time at the cottage, cause OMG).
#3- The phone call. Where Shane selflessly lets Ilya rant to him in Russian. It really tugged on our heartstrings when Ilya started confessing his feelings to Shane, and Shane listened so attentively despite being unable to understand a single word. It made the ultimate reveal of Ilya’s true feelings during the HM scene that much sweeter, too.
#2- The name change. A little off topic… but it’s embarrassing to admit that we did not realize until well into the show that their fake names were the “girl” versions of their names. Jane = Shane. Ilya = Lily. Yeahh, we didn’t clock that. But that’s not what we’re talking about. When it was just a hook-up thing, they referred to each other strictly by “Hollander” and “Rozanov,” but you could feel the tension and the ultimate 180 in how they felt when they called each other by their first names. And we were OVERJOYED. Finally, our boys were in love.
#1- By far our favorite scene takes place within the first 20 minutes. It’s steamy, it’s hot, and it shows the main attraction that IS Ilya’s a**. The bubble of all bubble butts. Ohhh, the butter I would spread across those buns. We force everybody who sets foot into our house to watch the shower scene. Is it so that they can also experience that glorious sight, or is it just an excuse for us to watch it again? We’ll never know! Safe to say, after leaving our house, they’re HOOKED.
Not only is this show great for entertainment purposes, but it’s also forcing hockey culture to become more accepting of gay lovers and bringing more attention to a sport that’s not as popular as others in the US. I can safely say it definitely grabbed our attention. Now, if only our local college hockey teams could be as hot as Ilya and Shane.
